About The Ebb & Flow Series Workshops
Creating Space & Grace
Take time to clear your mind and awaken your inner creativity and confidence. This workshop is designed to open space within the body through the torso from hips to shoulders to create a sense of openness, rhythm, and calm. Through this workshop you’ll learn techniques for creating clarity, calm and well-being while lifting “brain fog”, decluttering the mind.
The physical asana practice focuses on hip, spine, and shoulder alignment with a specific focus on how the abdominal muscles can engage to create space and lessen/alleviate low back and shoulder aches
Taming the Anxious Mind
You will learn ways to acknowledge your anxiety and what you can do to tame the anxious feelings. The asana practice will be centered around soothing the nervous system to create a feeling of being safe focusing on the hips to ground, the solar plexus to soothe, and the chest/heart space for acceptance. We’ll also explore the vagus nerve and psoas muscle and how they relate to the flight, fight or freeze mechanism the body uses for protection.
The physical practice will focus on the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digestion) to promote a lowering of cortisol, calming of the mind and feeling safe. The hips, digestive system, heart space and head will be the focus for the practice to invite loving-kindness into ourselves for calm and being present.
Channeling Anger to Action
Through hormonal changes that happen regardless of the stage of womanhood can bring conflict to ourselves and those that are around us. Being aware of our own irritability and letting it flow through us and not become us can give a new freedom to our body and mind. In this workshop we’ll focus on how we can channel the feelings of irritability and anger to bring that passion to action.
The physical asana practice will bring focus through powerful poses to challenge the entire body generating heat and strength. Along with strength the practice will include centering and balancing asanas and breathing to assist in channeling anger as a powerful emotion to create the foundation for change. This workshop invites all women no matter the stage of womanhood and can be a resource for being in touch with the natural hormonal fluctuations in a woman’s monthly cycle.
Hot flashes, insomnia and fatigue can work hand-in-hand through perimenopause into menopause. As it is still not completely clear how hot flashes and night sweats occur we can become more aware of our own rhythm. Through an awareness of own body we can better manage and work through what can be one of the challenging parts of of transitioning to menopause. During this workshop, you will learn to be aware of your body’s rhythm and recognize what you can control and the importance of taking time to rest.
The physical asana practice focuses on hips, spine, chest, shoulders and neck with inversion and restorative asanas. The practice focuses on creating centering calm to rest the body. Special attention will be given to the heart space and head through this workshop.
