My Approach
My approach to yoga focuses on precise and individualized body alignment and engagement of muscles to create stability, strength and flexibility within a caring and fun-loving atmosphere. Laughter in class ensures we are breathing and questions throughout class help to deepen our understanding of ourselves.
I take time to walk through the "why" for poses and if you are comfortable, I utilize adjustments to assist your learning. My goal is to guide you in your yoga practice and let your own body be the ultimate teacher. I utilize props to assist you in experiencing new ways to engage muscles and feel the benefits of the poses.
My yoga sessions are designed for all ages and all skill levels and are particularly beneficial in discovering the therapeutic benefits of yoga to manage chronic pain, recover from injury, manage mental stress, and heal the body.
My Background
My yogic journey began with trying to find a way to alleviate the chronic neck, shoulder and back pain I experienced through an automobile accident. After physical therapy and medications I was still in pain. I tried yoga and became a life-long student. With diligence and time I regained movement and developed muscular strength through yoga to overcome the injury pain. This inspired me to want to be in service to others through yoga.
I began yoga in 2002 practicing in the Iyengar yoga style and began teaching Hatha yoga in 2014. I am certified as an E-RYT 200, 500 RYT, YACEP with Yoga Alliance. Prior to yoga I studied and taught ballet for over 20 years.
